Healthy Vending Products:
HealthyVendCanada (HVC) will partner products and people to provide healthy alternatives in the vending sector including schools, public facilities and the workplace. If the product is offered in an HVC machine it must be approved as healthy in composition and portion size. Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education standards will be used wherever possible.. Milk, water, juices, soups, crackers, fruit, and fruit snacks are all suitable. By selecting approved products from each category and placing them in one machine the customer will know they have made a healthy choice. The key is to have the HealthyVendCanada seal of approval – parents and students and young consumers need to know that the product meets this standard – it won’t be in the machine unless it is approved. Who gains:- Our product suppliers should be perceived well by providing products being deemed acceptable for HealthyVendCanada.
- Parents will know their children have healthy products to purchase at school and in community centres and wherever HVC machines can be found.
- Employees will be pleased they can buy healthy products in their workplace
It is recommended that food and beverages sold in school vending machines should be consistent with the directional statements of Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating. Portion sizes should be consistent with Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
